Potential Impacts on Skagit Transit if Climate Commitment Act Is Repealed

If Initiative 2117 repeals parts of Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA), Skagit Transit stands to lose $12.6 million over six years, creating a $16.8 million budget gap. Key services, like free youth rides, paratransit for disabled residents, and the transition to zero-emission buses, rely on this funding. Without it, Skagit Transit may face service cuts, delayed fleet upgrades, and halted infrastructure projects, severely impacting its ability to maintain and expand services.

Week Without Driving Challenge Sep 30 – Oct 6

Skagit Transit’s DRAFT Transit Development Plan (TDP) is available below. View or request a paper copy in another language at Skagit Station, 105 E. Kincaid St, Mount Vernon, WA or MOA Office, 600 County Shop Ln, Burlington, WA. The Public hearing will be held August 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Burlington City Hall or via ZOOM (info at www.skagittransit.org/events). Comments accepted: July 19-August 21, 2024.
