Potential Impacts on Skagit Transit if Climate Commitment Act Is Repealed

If Initiative 2117 repeals parts of Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA), Skagit Transit stands to lose $12.6 million over six years, creating a $16.8 million budget gap. Key services, like free youth rides, paratransit for disabled residents, and the transition to zero-emission buses, rely on this funding. Without it, Skagit Transit may face service cuts, delayed fleet upgrades, and halted infrastructure projects, severely impacting its ability to maintain and expand services.
